You've met Charlie before. He's ten now - my Brave Protector, Nurse and Velcro Boy. Our first Corgi, Giggles, could have cared less about us. We got her way too soon (I didn't know any better then) and she really needed to be in the litter longer to learn some doggy wisdom. When I got Charlie I was determined that he would be my boy. I got a book by the Monks of New Skete on how to train a pup. Chuck was leashed to me for most of the day except when he was in his crate to nap. Everything that happened in his world came from me. I can't remember how long we did this but I was very good at it and Charlie was easily imprinted. He loves Tom - but I am his world. This boy is just about always where I am. I have never been threatened, but I don't think the attacker's ankles would fare well. When I don't feel well, he knows it and he is as close as he can get to me. When I lost my parents there was no one that went through that time as close to me as my dogs. They knew my world wasn't right. The bad part of this is that when Charlie has to go outside he thinks that I need to be with him. I don't mind during the summer - but the nippier it gets I have to persuade him that he is a big boy and can handle his toilette by himself. But just think about it. How many souls in this world think that you are their WORLD? Day in and day out he is always there for me - and will be until he crosses the Rainbow Bridge and waits for my arrival.
What a lovely portrait of Charlie - and your narrative almost brought tears to my eyes! Dogs are amazing companions, their love for us is unrelenting. Charlie looks like a fine dog!
What a beautiful portrait of your loving companion and such a sweet ode to him.... They do know when things aren't right and will go to no end to make sure you are ok.... it upsets there world when we are not happy... they live to please and have an extra closeness sometimes that brings tears to your eyes... Thanks for being his world and he thanks you for taking care of him....
@soboy5 Thank you Danny. You must love a dog to understand that deeply. @jenniferruge Thank you. He is one of my very best friends. @photos222 Thanks Sybil. I know that you understand. @cromwell Yes, Crom. He is that. I see the white under his eyes in this shot.
You have done so well with Charlie and that's what you are supposed to do! The only downside is the separation anxiety that happens when you are not around! Needs little times without you and rewards at the end for not barking! Lovely shot of his head!
That is a beautiful text about your beautiful dog. My eyes are filled with tears, as I have had a similar kind of dog (in spirit not breed). The friendship that dogs give is the best there is.
What a handsome dog, and you have got him perfectly in focus, his fur, whiskers and eyes are fantastic. Dogs are so loyal and you are obviously a great owner and friend to him too.
@jenniferruge Thank you. He is one of my very best friends.
@photos222 Thanks Sybil. I know that you understand.
@cromwell Yes, Crom. He is that. I see the white under his eyes in this shot.
