It's not meant to be pretty for such a solemn day - but I have no idea why so many of you can take such great phone shots and I look like I'm in a line up. I just got back from church. It is Ash Wednesday and our Presbyterian congregation does the traditional imposition of the ashes. It is the beginning of our journey to Easter Sunday I hardly ever do selfies - but I had to for today. It is my journey.
If you want to see something pretty go to my alternate album to see my first ever snowflake. I'm pretty proud of that one. http://365project.org/cdonohoue/and-more
I have never heard of the 'ashes" but am pleased to learn. You have taken this photo for a reason and I think it is because it means this day is important to you!
I like it, lady! I had a mug shot selfie myself this year. I remember the first time years ago that I saw people walking around with ashes on their heads and wondering what the heck the mark was. I've never been to an Ash Wednesday service.
Nice to do this for your journey, Cathy. Re: your shot... if you can change white balance on your phone, that would help. This was possibly florescent light?
It's hard to take selfies if you're not comfortable in front of the camera that's why I avoid them. You are very brave and I think this shot works well for your journey. You are braver than me!
@cdonohoue I am so sorry to hear about your church! Did the congregation move to a new building? If I remember correctly it's a Presbyterian church? I hope another congregation will buy it so that it remains a church. It's always so sad to see them converted to something else!
