First - thank you all for my well wishes and affection that I received for my 365! I so appreciate your support. I have found my niche in this community and that makes me very happy.
It is Palm Sunday - the beginning of Holy Week for Christians the world over. I am one of those folks. It was especially poignant for us Norwood Presbyterians this morning - our last week worshiping God in the old, old sanctuary. It is so difficult to sell your house of worship. Since I was a child this sacred space has been God's living room for me. I have faith that we will get through this time. I don't have the answers but I know that Somebody does.
So, this is THE Bible of the congregation. It is really huge and so heavy, held up by a large brass stand. This time of year the paraments are purple. Someone laid a new palm on the Bible.
How very sad Cathy you must have been very moved at this morning service but new beginnings on Easter Sunday. Have you somewhere new to go or will it be temporary at first?
Interesting to see a green palm ours were all brown this morning. Beautiful Bible!
A beautiful composition. So sad about your church I hope your congregation will soon have a new home!! You have different palms to us ours are long dried palm leaves and we can then make a cross from them. All the left over palm leaves will be burnt next year for Ash Wednesday.
It will always be a special sacred place for you ... think of it as moving to a new town with a new church, except that all your friends are moving too? x
