Another little piece of my heart.......Janis Joplin

This morning the tree guys showed up to the house catty cornered behind me to take down the tree - it is all gone now and you can see the roof of the two story house here so you know how high up they were.

But why don't they ask me. Whey don't they realize that they are taking something that was old when I was young. Taking my view from this back door for as long as I was old enough to ooh and ahh over the beginning of Spring buds and the colors of Autumn. I know that both of the trees that went down lately probably had problems - but I miss them. There is no putting something like this back in the landscape when it's gone. They had to be 100's of years old. Who knows how much life they have seen, and now they are just kindling.
So sad! You'll miss that tree for a very long time! I'm glad you have a picture of it!

Lovely shot but it is sad that it was taken down. I bet it would have a hundred wonderful stories to tell.

I sense your feelings Cathy, and have to agree with you. I wonder about the gnarled old oak trees in our local country park and wonder what they have seen.

Good shot, sorry for your loss. The were 4 maples in the berm that "came with" my house. At least 3 of them have been on the decline for the 5 years I've been here. The City took the sickliest one out last year and planted an oak this Spring, and I played "Musical perennials" this spring with my shade-loving flowers!
