@maggiemae -- I'm in the same camp as Maggie. I went back to my first month and almost gagged at how bad a photographer I was then. With a little bit of luck I'll say the same thing about my current work next January.
Mine is terrible! I did not even realize I was was "really" going to do this project. My niece Erin, who posts periodically on this site, was posting pics that I wanted to view. So I got on to see her work. Then she told me "I am following you" so I thought "Okay...well, I will take some pics and post them" and then made it through my first year without a missed slot/day and ended up joining ACE membership and posting many more than "one pic a day." This pic is from my computer desktop as I cleared and cleaned my photo file folders to get started. My nieces pic was the wallpaper on the desktop...
This is a lovely idea - rather than us just seeing your later work - lovely to see how everyone has improved so much. I've only been on 4 days and I'm addicted - I don't want to go back to work and I've been doing the basics of housework - sod it. Taking photos beats vacuuming any day of the week
@maggiemae can;t be as bad as mine...my mom will kill me when she see this shot. i started my project August 1, 2012
But even still 5 months later I wouldn';t change it because 365 is about the photos that mean something to me as i strive to become a better photographer
@tracywilliams little did I know that my files were going to go to total @$@$ after I started shooting a gazillion pics a day! They are a MESS again! but worse! And I have pics on my computer, laptop, I pad and I p hone and not sure what is where or how to get them all reconciled. I will work on it this summer I guess!
@ingrid2101 lol Ingrid I agree, my husband has been on holidays and I have been just addicted to the camera and photoshop lol my house has seen better days :D
@jsw0109 I had to double take, I thought this was an amazing abstract or something. I like the light refelctions.
@jsw0109 lol Jeff i have yet to see an embarrassing picture from you! @nanalisarocks lol lol! love your furry baby! @dlaxton love the colors @alisonp it's sweet @istacy1011 love the touch of red @5unflow3r that is fun! @cromwell hope we all can say that! @vase that is a beautiful shot @tracywilliams that is gorgeous and thanks for starting this fun thread
@tracywilliams thank you Tracy... Don't have to do much when you find natural beauty like this to shoot... Although I think I will go back and see what I would do now.
@sugarmuser At the start of my project I didn't keep my originals, I kick myself for it now cause many times I have dreamed of going back and re-editing some. I learnt my lesson.
Here was mine, November 30, 2012, so not too long ago:
And doh...10:18 here and I still haven't taken my shot of the day. Take it or use a filler so I can watch a show before bed? Guess I'd better get off the computer and decide!
@tracywilliams@sunshinephoto5 you guys are so kind! (My week vacation from uploading on 365 might be cut short btw.... I'm itching to upload something.... Tracy knows what it is)
I LOVE all of the pictures :) I also love how everyone is so welcoming on 365 :) Thanks to everyone! Hopefully ill be able to stick with it for the next 362 days
Just started! Here's my first (technically from today but I posted it as yesterday). Definitely feeling inadequate after looking at some of yours, but hoping this project will help me improve. I would appreciate any constructive criticism you veterans can offer :)
I actually started way back in 2011 and made it as far as June. On the 1st of January I have come back to give it another crack. This is the first photo I shared.
I'm new here so I guess this topic doesn't really apply to me, but I guess I'll share my first picture of the year anyways :)
Everyone else has some really great first pictures, by the way! I know I've improved a lot since my first attempt at 365 (I ended up giving up after a couple of months.) I've definitely improved at editing... :)
The first picture I posted (on 9th January, 2010) was not a photo I took, but a photo of me, by way of introducing myself:
The next day (10th January 2010) was the first upload of one of my pictures - a homemade igloo in a front garden in Lowestoft, taken with pretty hideous on-camera flash. How awful!
This was the first pic I posted in October 2011 and it was taken with my P&S. I realise that I have improved tremendously since then because I have learnt a lot from fellow 365ers. I would like to thank everyone for their help and support
Wow, there's a lot of pretty weak photos in this discussion compared to what you normally see (not excluding my own) :D It's nice to see that a little practice does tend to make people improve!
Oh boy! My first efforts were SO BAD! So very bad. But you all here have taught me a lot, and I heave read widely so I I am way better than 3 months ago.
I started my project wayyyy back in 2011 and quit only 3 months in... and then restarted in Dec of 2012- hope I make it all the way through this time! Anyway, here's the first pics I uploaded waaaaayyyyyyy back then (don't judge me too harshly)
Here's mine from 28th of April 2012. I was planning on starting on the 1st of May, but when I went to the visiting Fun Fair, I just couldn't wait a single day. :)
Such a fun discussion thread, this. I love to see how people have started out and learned so much in the process!

From September 21, 2012
@sunshinephoto5 Thanks Dawn :D
Taken close to two years ago :-) I can't believe it's been that long!
Still relatively new to 365 and loving it so far! This is my German Shepherd Rommel :)
I started off letting the camera do the talking, within 3 months I became the boss & jumped on the manual wagon. Have learnt heaps here
And doh...10:18 here and I still haven't taken my shot of the day. Take it or use a filler so I can watch a show before bed? Guess I'd better get off the computer and decide!

I stayed at a friend's place for New Year's Eve and woke to this sunrise, which made me leap out of bed and grab the camera.
Can you believe that this didn't get a single comment!?!? I can... he he
