HDR

January 10th, 2013
Ok, let's try a thread with HDR processed shots. i haven't seen this thread in awhile. Post as many as you like, here are a few of my most recent ones to get things rolling.
Also mention the HDR program you used and which style of HDR used. I think it would be interesting to see the difference in programs and which style the photographer gravitates toward. I use Photomatix pro and most times use a mix of presets i have created sometimes with fusion or painterly, but try to stay most times in the natural range.

@sparkle I LOVE THE SILVER SHINEY EFFECT ON THE SECOND ONE! WHAT PROGRAM DO YOU USE?
January 10th, 2013
@shirljess Thanks! Photomatix - the Pro version

@simon0128 I love it! I love how it feels almost midevil. What program and style do you use?

Thistle - ipiccy

I used photomatix too, I went for a slight grunge look on this shot, I just thought it worked well on this shot at the time. Your HDR shots are great Shirley, some people can over do it and get a halo cast on out door shots.
January 10th, 2013
@simon0128 Yes, I agree and I think I have one who has been guilty of over doing it sometimes... I have learned that the more natural the better, but I do love the different style and I think your grunge works really well with all the lines and textures of the structure.
January 10th, 2013
@sewsharyn Now see, this is why I love these threads... I love this look! What is ipiccy? Is it a computer program or a app? BTW Instant FAV!
January 10th, 2013
My B&W shot today was an HDR. I'm still pretty new to it though!

January 10th, 2013
I haven't done one in a while, but here is myost popular one. Processed in Photomatix Pro.

this is not new but one of my best
January 10th, 2013
This is the only full HDR I've done other than phone app shots. I used three separate shots with the Exposure Blend and Advanced Tone Mapping scripts for Gimp

This one is a tone mapped from a single image using the same Tone Mapping script but merging multiple copies. There's a bit of a halo but I wasn't really going for "real".

January 10th, 2013
@shirljess Thanks Shirley Jess. Yes iPiccy is an online editing program.
January 11th, 2013
I've not done many HDR shots but intend to do more in the future, here is one of my better attempts.

January 11th, 2013
@shuttermonster Oh My Goodness, that is so incredibly fantastic! Love love love!!!
January 11th, 2013
I'm a massive HDR fan and plan on doing a lot more of it this year and honing my skills on it a lot further. I use Lightroom 4, Nik HDR Pro 2 and then often run it through Nik Color Efex or Silver Efex depending what Im looking for. I start with the presets and then adjust to my taste from there. I often lean towards over processsing, I get a bit carried away with the drama of it all.

I think these are the only ones I have that I've created by bracketing shots. I have photomatix essentials and would love what others think about how it compares to photomatix pro. I think that if I upgrade I may well use it a bit more than I do currently.
January 11th, 2013
I actually just posted an HDR today! This is the one from today...only my second HDR.

This was my first one.

I use Luminance HDR (a free download) and then overlay them in PSE.
January 11th, 2013
Here is mine from today's post.

Here is one of my first tries...

January 11th, 2013
@simon0128 HDR really works here! Such rich browns and sharp lines. Beautiful.
January 11th, 2013
@vorka I love the butter factory image. I can see why you did a whole series.

@jbucovetsky Well, youknow i had to go and FAV this one! Stunner!

January 11th, 2013
@vorka I think I need to visit with you more on HDR, you have it nailed! I do not use anything but Photomatix, but I see now i need to use Lightroom and silver efex.. oh man, i am going to need to hire someone to teach me how to use all these programs. I really do love the drama you create in your clouds ;)
January 11th, 2013
@shirljess Thanks!!!
January 11th, 2013
Amy
Stunning shots on here guys! This is the only thing I've done remotely close...think it might be time for a go of HDR

January 11th, 2013
@daguerre @vorka Thank you very much : )
January 11th, 2013
@hopess13 cracking effort, well done.
January 11th, 2013
Here's a couple of showy ones:

... and a couple where the HDR was meant to go unnoticed:

Processed using Luminance, the first two with the Mantiuk 06 operator, the others with Mantiuk 08 or Reinhard 05. I generally leave Fattal well alone, but occasionally bad taste carries the day:

I just dabble with HDR for fun now and then - there's some beautiful images in the posts above which exploit the technique far more effectively.
January 11th, 2013
I sometimes like to over saturate for the feel. here are a couple natual and more processed. I found beside taking the 3-5 shots and changing the EV in the camera, you can also if shooting in raw, make two to four copies, change the EV/exposure in LR4 then export to Photomatix. It ensures a better merge since they are all really the same photo.

The one below if 5 copies of the same shot with the exposure changed after the fact in LR4 befor the HDR processing.

Here is another one I took this morning.

Saw this thread and was inspired to download a free trial of Photomatrix and have a go at my first HDR

here's one I did today... Photomatix, fusion adjusted preset with some custom tweaking

January 12th, 2013
I tend to do a lot of HDR, sometimes with an illustrative or grunge look, often times much more natural. My main editors include Photomatix Pro along with Silver FX, OnOne, etc. These are from my first year here as I've only just started for another go around and haven't posted an HDR yet...

January 12th, 2013
These are all single jpeg's that I have hdr tonemapped in PS cs6

January 12th, 2013
Last one for a bit.

January 12th, 2013

January 12th, 2013
This one was done in Photomatix and I think it was in the painted selection plus some tweeking.
January 12th, 2013
Are you kidding me! These are ALL fabulous! I'm seeing things with new eyes now. (Yes, newbie here) I know I am only using my phone camera at the moment...but it does have HDR, so now I am going to attempt to use it. Thanks so much for taking the haze away from my eyes...I love seeing images that POP!

January 12th, 2013
I LOVE this HDR thread because most of the posters that I looked at here seemed to figure out that point where it's too much and backed off to a point where the photos have that beautiful HDR punch without turing the photos into cartoons. :-D
January 12th, 2013

January 13th, 2013
These are all so wonderful! I use HDR a lot, but I'm a newbie and have only 12 photos on here so far. My photo today is an HDR taken with my Andriod and edited with an app called Camera 360.

January 13th, 2013
This is a very over the top one from this week

and a single shot with people (an experiment I was trying)

and a more realistic one
January 13th, 2013
Here are a couple. Three difference exposures for each one. I love this thread - great work, everyone!
