What's your favourite photo from the past week (5 to 11 Nov)? Let us know by posting them here by copying and pasting the code from the 'Share' box that's in your photo page, together with info on when it was taken. Part of the challenge is only selecting ONE picture, so no cheating!
I've had a relatively good week, so it was a difficult choice especially between my Saturday and Sunday photos (both are tied with 11 faves!) For me though I have to go with my first proper sunset shoot on Saturday. Here it is (taken on 6 November):
I put my horses in earlier and I love them as a subject but I hadn't realised this abstract I did fell into the right date brackets. I really spent some time on this too, photographing it in the first place and then getting the intensity of colours and shapes how I wanted them. It got hardly any comments and views, but that hasn't changed how much I love the blues achieved here - well, the blue that I see on my screen. This is a draft for colours I would like to include in paintings when I get a studio - one day. Also it was inspired by two of my favourite artists.
November 11. This was easy for me, but it has probably received the least attention of my week's work. It's always slightly amusing when I think a photo is fantastic and it is met with only mild appreciation. Makes me think about how to do it better next time. :)
The new Gorilla Tripod hung onto the fence and the timer gave me time to let go of the camera and let it focus. This would not have happened with me holding the camera and a regular tripod would not sit straight on a frence.
My favourite photo of the week isn't mine. It was an "Ode" to me, and therefore as I was incredibly touched that one of my favourite photographers to follow on this site would mention me in her work, it instantly became a favourite. Here's the shot:
I had to go to Denver on Wednesday and it was a really rough, emotional day. When I was waiting at the airport to come back home, there was this little candy shop next to my gate. It was filled with yummy smells and bright colors and put a smile on my face, brightening my otherwise dark day.
I agree with what Jinx said. I'm often surprised which of my photos are popular with other people vs. which of my photos I personally like best. This one was my favorite by far this week, but hardly got any attention. While some of my other attempts that I just felt so-so about were really liked. Weird! It's so hard to look objectively at your own work.
But, for what it's worth, here it is, My personal favorite. =)
My tea kettle and steam shot was my first photo that actually achieved some popularity, and I am so grateful for all the nice comments and the recognition that I hate not to choose it, but I really loved the warmth of this one and it is my husband's personal fav . . . probably because he likes bourbon much more than hot tea!!!!!
I tried the water splash shot this week. Mine is not good enough compared to the ones I saw on here but I'll make it my fave, for the labor. It's not easy. :-)
I don't take many birdie shots, tending to prefer landscapes/cityscapes but this one worked out well in terms of focus and DoF. I wouldn't dream of telling how many shots I fired off that day!
Due to the still water contrasted by the rushing waterfall, then the complimentary colors, I have to choose this one as my fav for the week. I feel good about the composition of it.
@stationary315 You might want to try editing your post and replacing your link with the code that's in the 'share' box on the page. That way we can all see your pic :)
I just really liked how he framed the pic, the water on his back, and the fact that I could use the pool for the theme. Lots of views, but I guess not as much a hit as I thought it would be. My students went gaga over it, as did his parents.
Going with this one for all it meant 10yrs ago - the most scariest and bravest thing I'd done since 14.10.1982. Then being brave enough to put it up here for 'the world' to see ...
Where are we today? Occasional emails with pix of her son. MORE than many others have had or get. I am blessed and one day will be at peace. Not sure when but I pray for that one day to come sooner than later!
I think this one, because of the surrealness. I actually think my favourite that I took in this period was one of my firework photos, but since I posted it for a date outside the week, this one wins.
Ah no this is a tough one, I love almost every photo in this week for varying reasons. Ok i'll go with my boat shoot with Izzy because she was so much fun and my last photo shoot in Perth
One of my students who had done her hair in pigtails herself that morning an proudly asked me what I thought. I told her that I thought they were perfect and I do because crooked part and lopsided pigtails are always perfect when they come attached to the beautiful smile of one of my little learners. I snagged this shot of her working later and posterized it. I like the warmth in it.
Kind of late to the thread this time! I think this shot is my fav from that time frame. I like the way the drop is sitting on the water and it seems very calm.
No rhyme or reason behind why. 06 / 11 / 2010
I took this on wednesday

Time, Time, Everything Takes Time.
More and more dodgy pics - I must be tired ... I do like the purple in this though :)
Think this picture got the most viewers..over 320 with 1 fav. would love to go cruising again

Small boy
He picked up a pebble
and threw it into the sea.
And another, and another.
He couldn't stop.
He wasn't trying to fill the sea.
He wasn't trying to empty the beach.
He was just throwing away,
nothing else but.
Like a kitten playing
he was practicing for the future
when there'll be so many things
he'll want to throw away
if only his fingers will unclench
and let them go.

I worked pretty hard on this, and was happy enough with the result.
because it's not my usual style!
This leaf liked my car just as much as I do and just stuck to it!
This is mine. A friend and her daughter were nice enough to pose for me and we had a ton of fun with the shots :)
