Are you keeping distant from crowds, staying away from some of your favorite spots, staying inside as much as possible? If so, are you finding that limiting to your photography? I just suggested to my friends in the camera club, we play the alphabet seeking game. Each day we will find something unique that begins with a certain letter. Start with A and work through the alphabet. If you set some themes like this you could find it a little bit of a challenge and take up a little of the long days. The key is to find something a little more unique than A for apple. A for aspirin would work as a macro also for the 52 week challenge. I will be posting some of mine here on 365.
Excellent idea, Joan. I am limiting my social contact due to health reasons in other family members. Good for you for being creative. It is a great way to keep busy and slow the worries down.
At present I'm still at work with the public coughing and spluttering everywhere.
Town full of older people panic buying in readiness for 4 months home arrest.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Going to need some ideas like this - we're already on 'home arrest' in France as Mrs S and I are very definitely 'older people'!
@vignouse Not under home but work called just as I was about to drive out of the driveway for work. They want me to stay home for two weeks. And yet another fun thing to being a senior. But at least not under home arrest. So walked at the beach today, going to run some errands in Portland tomorrow with my niece. Also running this picture thing with the camera club. Made a similar suggestion on the new aA connect Facebook club which is for Scrapbooker facing stress as a way to post pages and share experiences. I suggested creating a page a day using the alphabet. I have to do my A page before I go to bed. I also am running a challenge next week. Anna has two challenges she runs regularly and we are adding a third for a while. Different people are running different weeks. My week is next week so I have to come up with a fun Scrapbooking challenge. I have a thought for a page with a selfie of me looking like I am sitting on a curve and will be titled "Helping to flatten the curve" don't know if you are familiar with that but anyway if no one else uses the idea before me I am going to suggest posting a page either funny or poignant about how the Covid-19 is affecting their life. So no moss growing under my feet.
@joansmor@taffy@brigette Elderly... moi? Technically yes - I'm closer to 80 than 70! Here in France though everybody is on lockdown - only folk in essential employment may go out; all bars, restaurants, places of entertainment are closed and all shops other than food shops and pharmacies. It is permitted to go out to do ‘essential' food shopping and collect prescribed medicines, but not otherwise... and this could continue for months. The world and the ways of its people are going to be very different after this I think.
@vignouse I've read this. In New Zealand we are still navigating things day by day. Schools and Uni's (where I work) are still open.. large gatherings banned. I hope (but not naively) that we escape what the rest of the world is enduring.
Makes you grateful for our 'lil 365 community. Selfishly i'm grateful that i travelled recently in 2018 to Spain and visited dear English friends in Londontown. Stay well!!!
Here in Ireland they've closed the pubs(!) two days before Paddy's day - the parades had all been cancelled over a week ago. They've shut the schools and colleges too, and we're expecting further closures of non-essential retail & entertainment outlets because a huge spike in cases is predicted.
I started social distancing measures as soon as we had our first few cases (luckily I'm in a position to do that because I'm studying), and I'm only leaving the house if it's 100% necessary.
I'm not finding that it's interfering with my photography too much because it's rainbow March, and it's quite easy to find coloured things around the house... but I'll probably run out of ideas sooner or later :/
@francoise No - but we've just come back from doing just that! We do live in a very rural area so all we saw was a farmer in his tractor... and some way off at that.
We are not in lockdown yet - although cinema's and restaurants are and some schools & universities are here in the north of Ireland as well as all the St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
Here in South Florida all public schools are closed to students through April 15. All universities are closed for the remainder of the semester. Beaches are being closed. Our city just closed all city parks. Some restaurants are staying open at the moment, but they must serve only 50% of their usual capacity. Others are only doing pick up or drive through. All bars and nightclubs are closed, as are most entertainment venues (including Disney World and Universal Studios). The restrictions just keep getting tighter and tighter. Personally, I have been self-isolating for over a week due to an upper respiratory infection causing ongoing coughing. I just got two prescriptions today that should help break up the congestion so, yes, I expect that I am going to have to think creatively about things available around the house at this time. I might consider doing your alphabet challenge next month if I am stuck for ideas.
At present I'm still at work with the public coughing and spluttering everywhere.
