Ok so here are the pairings for week one of the Get Pushed challenge. If I have missed you out then no need to get all dramatic and stuff, just post in the thread below.
You were all assigned a number between 1 and 64, these were then used to generate the pairs using random.org's random number generator.
So this is how it will work
1. Find you partner from the list below.
2. Browse through the last couple of months of photo's to get a feel for what they shoot and don't shoot etc.
3. Post an introduction on there last photo, and also issue the challenge you are setting.
4. You have until next Saturday (28th) to take your shot
5. When posting your shot tag it Get-Pushed-1, tag your challenger in the comments and write a short description about what the challenge was, what you found hard about it etc.
6. Maybe the challenger could then critique the photo as well
Next Sunday I will pick 5 finalists for a vote, and post another round of pairings and off we go again.
Please remember that the point here is to push people, not embarrass them. So as much I encourage people to get nekkid etc. lets try and avoid those kind of challenges.
Think that's about it, this is a kinda new challenge here so lets have this week as a trial run, and see if and what needs improving for the following weeks.
Also if you didn't post in the original thread but want to take part in future weeks then let me know and I will add you to the spreadsheet.
@38mm Life is never straightforward is it? I just checked the profile of the person I'm paired with and she says she's away this week. Is there anyone left over?
hmmm... the person i am paired with is on vacation, and not clear when they will be back! i did set the challenge before i realized... @carmel - have you found someone to pair up with?
Jase - this is gonna be an administrative nightmare for you... we should think of a way to make it a bit lower maintenance somehow... wonder how they handle this on flickr?
i suck at being anyone's assistant, but in theory i have decent organizational skills and i will be happy to help as long as i don't have to be a PA ;p
@38mm (gulp) ok, I think I'm ready, @aleksandra has done some amazing work and I feel honored to work with her, I just hope I can push her, cuz I know she is gonna push me.
Also, thanks for putting this all together, it's gonna be an awesome time and great learning opportunity.
If you have anyone else drop out of this, please let me know. For some reason I missed this when it was first posted and I'd like to get pushed in the future. I'm always trying to stretch myself photographically.
@38mm great job pulling this all together, and I look forward to getting pushed! I see that the person I'm paried with @mej2011 is also paired with @izzymathie so one of us will need a spare...
@38mm I was going to volunteer to take over, seeing as I'm in the middle of summer and have no life. But you have a spreadsheet and all. :P
Let me know if you need a hand though. :)
Just wondering if it might be an idea to have a separate GP challenge thread for the actual challenges, so we can see what other people are doing, and maybe get ideas?
@webfoot ha ha ~so I did :-) ... have been at it since 2009 ~ and you? ... I am still trawling to find a challenge for you :-) ... not sure it will be that pushing as you have touched on most things but i do have an idea ~ just checking earlier albums and extras :-)
OK - having actually done this, the challenges ranged from very specific to far more general. They were aimed at either pushing people out of their comfort zones or teaching them new skills and concepts.
Challenges ranged from not just taking street candids but actually talking to strangers to take their pictures (I got that one and @janmaki did too), taking industrial pictures instead the normal countryside, using colour or black and white, I challenged my partner to take a macro shot. I've seen people challenged to shoot pictures out of focus, take low key still lifes, take a portrait including some blur, take a panorama shot, use tilt shift, take a shot showing movement, take night shots or use the evening light ... More specific challenges included learning about notan structures, or asked someone to create a triptych using the primary colours (Red Yellow Blue or Red Green Blue) that hangs together, or to produce an image that tells a specific story or to illustrate a quotation or phrase.
careful Jase... i've had an incredibly frustrating day at the office and the thought of a position with a title and clearly articulated responsibilities is sounding real appealing right now ;p
@38mm I am game to try this challenge next week. I am struggling with combining the thumbnail challenge with the July photo a day challenge this week. Next week will be a much better week for me to start this. Thanks in advance!
Not so much told you about as you asked when you saw me doing my Get Pushed attempts - Jani Maki @janmaki encouraged me to take part - he's more or less just on Flickr now.
should this be a one shot posted or could we post a few meeting the challenge? I am not sure if I should do each days attempt or pick the best at the end and post it?
I did it!!! Yeah!! Street Photography and it was FUN! Thanks Sophie for the challenge @svt
I thought for my first street photography rather than be secretive about it I would just take shots of everyone and not worry about what ppl think. Because of the get pushed challenge I will be doing much more street photography.
Hmm, is that going to leave one person short of a partner?
Thank you for arranging and managing this challenge, I'm sure it was a huge undertaking getting us all paired up, etc.
Looking forward to being "Pushed" :-)
Jase - this is gonna be an administrative nightmare for you... we should think of a way to make it a bit lower maintenance somehow... wonder how they handle this on flickr?
Right how about if you and @carmel pair up for this week.
@carmel - if you're still unpaired lemme know!
Also, thanks for putting this all together, it's gonna be an awesome time and great learning opportunity.
I have been pushed!
Goodness, I am sorry I did not catch that.
@38mm
Please let me know who I am working with this week.
@aspada you are now paired with @izzymathie
Let me know if you need a hand though. :)
@northy :P
Push back. I can always use some kind of challenge to get me out of my elements.
Not so dull afterall huh!!! :)

Does that give people ideas if they are stuck?

I think you missed me out. Is there anyone else free who needs a partner? Thanks.
@stuckinoz... you game??
This gonna be loads of work for you... thanks a bunch!
@geertje @salza @richwood @bugik
@carmel @lanina

@gavincci
I will probably still do it tomorrow
