April is done in another day and I was wondering about the May Half and Half. This theme/challenge has been going on for quite a few years. Nicole Campbell, who hosted the challenge until last year, has not posted in her album since December. So in her absence, I decided to take up the baton and lead those of you who enjoy this challenge.
The following is taken from last year's notice of the May Half & Half:
"If you follow the Half and Half Project on Instagram you will know they describe this type of photography as 'Parallel lines meet together in our minds'. It is a quirky way of explaining how to capture two separate scenes in the one photo.
Take a moment to pop over to their page so you can gain an understanding of what May Half and Half is all about.
Many 365ers have been participating in this challenge for the past three or four years. It is a lot of fun and you can join for the whole month, a week or even a day. Some people like to follow a set theme each week and others like to mix it up and capture a different subject each day.
The challenge is quite simple, you just need to change the way you look at subjects/objects when you photograph them. Here are a few tips to help you:
1. Capture a photo that appears to be of two halves. For example a solid wall in one half of the photo and a door in the other or a tree trunk in one half of the image and the surrounding landscape in the other half. You are capturing what appears to be two separate scenes in the one photo, you are not taking two photos and combing them into one.
2. If you take your photo in a square format or plan to crop it square your images will appear symmetric and look very nice.
3. You can capture horizontal or diagonal lines. How you approach the theme is entirely up to you.
4. Have fun. Once you train your mind to look at potential images in this way you will see them everywhere."
Iām undecided. But glad to see it is still going. Itās one I tend to run out of interest in before I run out of month, but then look at the final result and be happy I stayed in.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond when I followed your May 2017 tag, and then went back to the first of 28 pages, the first picture tagged halfandhalf was this one in Jan 2014
@30pics4jackiesdiamond no, I didnāt mean it was yours, just that if you follow your halfandhalf tag, that this is the earliest picture that used the same tag. It you click on that picture it will show who posted it but she hasnāt been active for years. https://365project.org/yogiw/profile
