Going, going, gone ... by dkbarnett

Going, going, gone ...

A sad day, but it had to be done. We planted these Norfolk palms 25 years ago. They were magnificent, but their seeds were spreading everywhere, plus they were full of birds nesting. This created a huge smelly mess ...
Oh, what a shame, but I understand the predicament. Will you replace them with anything?

Your garden will look quite different…they look like they were quite big & dominant. Much lighter now!!

@jamibann Yes we have already purchased some Kahikatea which is a native to New Zealand. Had they been planted 25 years ago they would have been very tall by now!! Oh well, you plant for the next generation!!

Nice capture.

They smell bad? I know I usually get a little sad when trees come down, especially ones I planted myself - looks like a big project!

@catcarter19 Unfortunately yes - not the trees, but the number of birds nesting in them. I'm not worried about the starlings, but a lot of our white pigeon doves were also nesting in them. That was hard for me to take, poor babies, and poor mums!!!
