Poecilopachys Australasia 2 spine spider. On Tuesday we drove home to Taranaki from Opua, Bay of Islands. A cousin of my hubby lives in Whangarei. She knows I like taking photographs of spiders so called me about one she had found in her garden. She kept this spider alive for me for about 10 days until we drove by her home and called in for a visit. I have never seen one like this before. This one is female. The male doesn't have these horns or spines.
The drive home was very wet with roads closing behind us. But we were home by around 5:00 pm so it wasn't too bad.
@pusspup - she did let it go - and she rang me this morning especially to tell me that it is thriving and she can watch it through her dining room window!
