At last, I have collected back unsold Christmas cards from shops selling on a 'sale or return' basis. I have counted every single one in a stock take and finally have put the large box away that has lived on our spare room sofa for nearly 4 months! Final sales are just shy of 1,000 Christmas cards over the past couple of months and I am making up over 200 greeting cards to restock the shops.
After all the counting which started at just after 2pm, the light had started going but after a bright afternoon the sky was a beautiful colour.
1000 Christmas cards sounds like great numbers. Last year I compiled a calendar for our village to raise funds and we sold out of our 250 copies (not bad in a village of 300 people) but quite a few people have asked if it would be possible to produce a set of note/greetings cards from the photos included. I haven't looked into this very much but know that the cards I produced for our family Christmas card (all the same design) this year cost 75p each to have 100 printed by Simlab, who I use for all of my printing. So, to sell a set of cards at a price people would pay and for enough to make a reasonable profit doesn't sound very viable using that option. Do you mind me asking, do you have your cards printed as cards or do you use photographs and mount them into cards, which I imagine would be more cost effective. Tell me to mind my own business if you like!
@jantan Hi there, no problem at all about giving you details - here's my email address, if you drop me an email I'll send you all the details. I have managed to get the cost down to 30p per unit (this is card, envelope and cello) - emma_cox@btopenworld.com
@padlock Hello! Yes, not bad although I had a couple of hiccups with 2 outlets. My sales for the year of greeting and Christmas cards were nearly 3,400 which is my highest year to date (done it for 3.5 years) so I am quite happy!
