Our last full day in Buenos Aires and the weather continues to improve as it actually started with a bit of sun. We were a little stuck in the morning as we needed to check on for our flights and to try our crafty plan to get a free seat in between us! So we headed out to the botanical gardens within walking distance from our hotel. They really felt like the 'lungs' of the city. There was a cactus garden and a carefully laid out butterfly garden although there were only a few butterflies to be seen. Again it was strange to see signs of Spring like a pond full of tadpoles, birds building nests and trees in blossom.
After we nipped back for check in (after ice cream) and to watch the last 15 minutes of the rugby World Cup being played about 10 minutes from where we live at home, we were off out again. This time our final place we selected to visit was the San Telmo district of the city. It is the oldest district m with crumbling mansions and a great antiques market. Our main destination was the square and after a cold beer and tapas we were rewarded with what we had hoped to see - live impromptu tango. It was amazing, last night was impressive but this was almost better. We watched two couples dance a number of sets. I think they use the square as a practice area and to get used to performing in front of an audience. We were so lucky as after a dance break one couple moved directly in front of where we were sitting to preform.
What a brilliant end to our time in Buenos Aires. We had our last excellent steak late in the evening, it'll be many months before we are anywhere where we can get such a good steak cooked just as we ask for.
