10th September 2018

An early start and we did not bother with breakfast.

We drove to the station as we got the train to Gatwick and saved the cost of a taxi. The trains were all on time but unfortunately we were travelling in rush hour so I did not have a seat for most of the journey as I was watching the luggage. All went to plan and we self checked-in with EasyJet although I was stopped by the security staff as I had not realised that there was in fact a container of children bubble mix in my handbag left over from last Sundays family photo shoot - I blame my assistant.

This is the view from the plane as we were circling over Barcelona waiting for a landing slot. The car-hire collection was stressful with bad instructions of where to catch the shuttle bus followed by an incredibly unhelpful man (Spanish but called Jimmy - really?!) who hired us a battered white VW Polo covered in scratches with a threat of a €300 fine for any additional marks - I did a fully narrated video as a security back up. Never use 'OK Car Hire' (they're definitely NOT OK) at Barcelona airport!

The journey was about 1.75 hours to our friends villa and we managed it with no wrong turns and we were relieved when we arrived and were welcomed by a cold beer and a lovely tapas and BBQ spread dinner. Welcome to Spain.
