12th October 2018

It is camera collection day today from Fixation in Vauxhall and it is great to have my 'baby' back inspire of the £306 bill for replacement lens parts and a service!

I had read about this art installation at the Imperial War Museum and as it is only a twenty minute walk from Vauxhall we headed there afterwards to test out my camera.

This is 'Poppies: Weeping Window' by Paul Cummins (artist) and Tom Piper (designer) and it is part of the two piece artwork originally displayed at the Tower on London in 2014. Each ceramic hand made poppy represents a British or Colonial life lost during the First World War. It was so impressive despite the light being low and grey.

We had a brief look around the museum along with a flat white coffee and cake and vowed to come back when we feel more energised in the near future. Here are some other images of the poppies - https://www.facebook.com/pg/EmmaDurnfordPhotography/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2055107437875260&__xts__%5B0%5D=68.ARCmTh4HU7f5cboaiRP1dgYTDm_ajlzhWhx-UPZI2vMbrGPEuPFfcrSW7H_AubqeIRMjI9TtY2fvzlspLENSRuvtvho2OnOTpK1ImQ0umzjmj0UrYSljpH2J9VrJAYhoAiag9dsR50syikQ0zc4HoK_5pFyX5guPvIg6RR2GyoqFLPaU4S90tg&__tn__=-UC-R

We were about to head back to Teddington when I remembered I had kept the details of a little cafe called Marie's Cafe - a greasy spoon by day but a BYO Thai cafe at night. We found it fairly easily and had an excellent Thai meal of fish cakes and red and green curries with Jasmine rice. Sadly we had not BYO so we stuck to bottled water!
