George Leeman by fishers

George Leeman

This fine fellow stands down the road from York's railway station. George Leeman was a lawyer, a railwayman and the MP for York from 1865-1868. Public funds paid for this statue which was unveiled in 1885, and they even renamed 'Station Road' to 'Leeman Road' in his honour. I personally think he's there to tell the tourists to behave themselves, he looks a formidable fellow! - Lucy
A really grand capture. Love your informative commentary.

Bob
Quite a stately fellow. Perhaps we could match him with the Queen from Alice in Wonderland.
