This is another historical building in York. Construction to build it began in 1357, and it comprises of a Great Hall (where the Medieval merchants first gathered to conduct business and to socialise), the Undercroft (which was used as an alms house to help the sick and the poor), and the Chapel offering spiritual care.
Today, it is a museum with collections of silver, furniture and paintings. You can also hire it out for your wedding! I hadn't really noticed before just how yellow the outside is, I'd always thought of it as white. - Lucy
@tonydebont I think it is Tony, and nothing in York is free. If you want to go inside there is quite an admission charge, which must go some way to the upkeep of the building. - Lucy
