Ian and I had a walk on the flood-bank and cycle-path near where we live. Signs of early autumn were very much in evidence. The Hawthorn in particular was very heavily laden with its fruit (along with blackberries,crab apples,apples.....). It made me think of the country saying that a profusion of berries, haws and fruit indicated a hard winter. Only time will tell.
