Old and New in Sheffield

Dad took me to see the new market building at the bottom of the Moor in Sheffield. It is scheduled to open later this month. It was good to see the old market stalls reflected in the windows of the new market.

Nice shot. Will the outdoor market stalls be moving indoors. Years ago the City of Edmonton tried that and it was a huge failure so they ended up going back outdoors

@bkbinthecity This market is to replace the old indoor Castle Market. There is some controversy over the rent but many of the traders will be moving into it. I believe the outdoor stalls will remain for a time. The archaeologists are going to excavate the old market area as it was the site of the castle in Sheffield. I'm hoping for some photos of the process in the future. Katharine
