After exploring the rock outcrops at Brimham Rocks, I followed a short part of the Nidderdale Way long distance footpath towards Pateley Bridge.
The path from south of Brimham Rocks, westwards past High Wood was a very pleasant summer stroll the last time that I followed it, but on this occasion it slowly turned from mud into a stream as I followed it down hill, with water from the fields running along it. To make things worse, the rain began to fall, but I was soon to be cheered up by a beautiful sight.
As I approached Smelthouses along a farm track, the banks at the side of the lane were covered with carpets of Snowdrops, so there was a break in the walk for photos!
This is probably my final chance to see snowdrops this year, since it's only here in higher locations that they are still in bloom, those in York having already fallen.
Hi Ian, we are lucky enough to have a carpet of snowdrops on the bank opposite our front door, but there are only a few stragglers left in bloom now (as compensation, however, the daffodils are now out). This is a nice shot and the P500 has done you proud: I'm always impressed by the polyvalence of bridge cameras and they make a great tool to take on a walk when you don't know what you are going to find.
Thank you Richard, and I agree, the P500 is a quite a versatile camera, although the images aren't quite as crisp and sharp as the Fuji S5600 that I used to use before Lucy took it on tour abroad. It is nice to see the sequence of spring flowers The snowdrops have almost completely gone in York, and the daffodils are coming into bloom, and quite soon after that the bluebells. I do love the spring flowers.
Thank you Graham, and thank you for the fav!
