Ghost by fishers

Ghost

I took my boyfriend to the Georges Pompidou centre in Paris yesterday, and we saw some of the modern art work there. This piece was one of the few I understood (I don't really like modern art!) and is called 'Ghost' by Kader Attia. If you look closely, it's a room full of Muslim women praying. - Lucy
I'm afraid I don't understand - and therefore I don't much like - modern art either. The big question though, is did you go to see the Henri Cartier Bresson exhibition while you were there... with over 400 examoples of his work including some original prints, it should be awesome.

Great shot, wouldnt have thought that if you hadn't said what it was.

I don't really like modern art either... perhaps because I don't understand it... I prefer art that I can relate to! :)

But this is a great shot, and goes to show how you don't always need a lot of detail, to bring across an impression!

I enjoy modern art, but I HATE it when an artist has an especially strange or abnormal piece and its "untitled" and without a statement!!! Some explanation goes a long way with some of these pieces!

For me it`s not the first question I ask myself but can I understand the artist meanings. I do in this case and I think he did successfully. So I like it.
A brief explanation. : To us Muslim is a not be know religion and have strange traditions.
I do this week some of modern art sculptures out of my neigbourhood.

Not my kind of art.

I think I'm a bit underwhelmed by this too! Not the photo, that is, but the art.

Love the capture but not impressed by the 'art', looks like bubble-wrap.

I like your pov and the light in the piece.

Great shot, thanks for clarifying it too as I'm not sure I'd have realised.

@vignouse Thanks Richard. Sadly I didn't go in the exhibition this time as you have to pay for it. As a young person under 26 I can get into the permanent collections for free. But perhaps another weekend I'll go take a look - Lucy

@silverhorn Thanks Rose - Lucy

@padlock Thanks Padlock. It wasn't obvious to me at first when I was in the room! - Lucy

@monkeykid Thanks Therese. I think relating to art is incredibly important, and it's sad that we seem to dislike traditional depictions of stories told through art these days. I like to know what I'm looking at! - Lucy

@eohagan I agree Erin! It's all very well trying to make a 'statement' but we're not inside the artists' head! - Lucy

@pyrrhula Thanks Ferry. This was one of the few I could understand! - Lucy

@bobhuegel Not particularly mine either Bob! Someone got a bit too handy with the tin foil! -Lucy

@dolphin Me too Molly. I hate looking at things and being pretty certain I could do the same thing, given enough time and tin foil! - Lucy

@tonydebont Thanks Tony. I agree, I think modern art needs a lot of explanation - Lucy

@hshdebbie Thank you Debbie - Lucy
March 11th, 2014
@lindsaydaisyboo Thanks Lindsay. I think I did more reading in the Pompidou than looking at the work! - Lucy

Now that you mentioned it, I can see it but not really like it. maybe there are so many of them. maybe one or two would make a better picture, if you now what I mean.
March 11th, 2014
@bruni Yes I see your point Bruni. I don't know, knowing these artists there's probably some symbolism to there being a room full of them! The artist would have had to work on the details a bit more if there were only one or two, the quality in general wasn't great... - Lucy
