Versailles - Ceiling of the Hall of Mirrors by fishers

Versailles - Ceiling of the Hall of Mirrors

I'm having real difficulty moving on from my day at Versailles with Lucy, so here is another shot from there. This is the ceiling of the Hall of Mirrors in the main chateau.

This isn't the first time the Hall of Mirrors has featured in our project - Katharine included a shot of it in her February visit - http://365project.org/fishers/365/2014-02-20

The Hall of Mirrors is the principal and most remarkable feature of King Louis XIV of France's third building campaign of the Palace of Versailles (1678–1684), and construction of the Hall of Mirrors began in 1678.

Originally regularly used by the royal family, it has in more recent times come to be remembered for a number of symbolic events, including the signing of the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I on 28 June 1919.

Thank you Bruni - many big houses in the UK don't allow photography either, but the French are OK, except that you can't use flash.
