A 24/7 Job by fishers

A 24/7 Job

A few days ago I shared a shot of the large crane that has recently appeared in a car park near the River Ouse in York ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2015-02-16 ) as part of the project to replace the railway bridge on the route leaving York towards Scarborough.

Well, here is a night shot of the bridge site itself. Work is going on around the clock to complete the task as soon as possible so rail services can be restored. The crane had already lifted out the old bridge sections, and all that is left is a scaffolding bridge for the engineers to work from, and a footbridge which runs alongside the railway. Lots of floodlights help to create this shot - this part of the riverside is normally quite dark.

Since this shot was taken, the new bridge sections have been lowered into place, and a start has been made on replacing ballast and track. The project is currently running ahead of schedule.
