Moorsbus is a network of linked bus services which serve the North York Moors national park. Originally sponsored by the national park in an attempt to reduce traffic, the timetable arriving in the post was to us an important sign of spring. The service suffered serious challenges when the national park withdrew funding, but a small group of enthusiastic users have begun the process of restoring the network. Their funraising had been quite successful, until last year and Covid-19. The service didn't run at all in 2020, and a very short season started at the weekend for this summer.
The weather forecast for the first day of service was bad, but Katharine and I decided to go anyway. We had a mainly riding round day calling off at a number of locations, including Pickering and Helmsley before a long ride over the moor tops to Eskdale. By mid afternoon we were at the Moors Centre at Danby in Eskdale, and since it was fairly dry we had our refreshments at a picnic table outside the cafe. It was great fun watching the birds clear up the crumbs on the picnic tables as people left, and this shot shows just one of the many birds that we saw. I think it is a house sparrow. We have both really missed our trips to the Moors, and hopefully we will be making as many visits as we can fit in over the summer.
Lovely shot of the sparrow too.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I hope you don't get fed up with our Moorsbus adventures. We have a lot of places to visit after missing out last year.

Thank you Vesna, it is lovely to see the wild birds behave in such a tame way.
