No, not the well known route in the USA, but part of Britain's National Cycle Network. Katharine and I found this attractive sign as we set off on our walk from Dunnington to Hagg Wood.
This Route 66 runs from Kingston upon Hull to Manchester via Beverley, York and Leeds and runs along a mix of bridleways, disused railways, quiet country roads, and canal towpaths, through attractive countryside and former industrial areas where regeneration has taken place. In places the route is still under development, in particular between Tadcaster and Bramhope.
There are often sculptures and elaborate signs along the various routes, and this is an example of the kind of thing to expect.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
Cycling has become quite a thing in Yorkshire following the stages of the Tour de France held here and the Tour de Yorkshire started after that. This year the Tour of Britain will be passing through North Yorkshire. I haven't seen a route map yet, but hopefully I will be able to get somewhere along the route for photos. As a result many people have been inspired to take up cycling for their commute or for leasure and there has been quite a development of cycle routes.

The area around Dunnington is really flat, but close by are the Yorkshire Wolds with a lovely network of quiet lanes to explore.

Thank you Vesna - It was a pleasing sign to find.
