Taken just before Christmas, this shot of a roundabout was taken in Kings Square, York. It was one of a number of entertainments around the city centre to encourage visitors to the Christmas Fair. It hasn't encouraged very many riders!
These kind of rides remind me of childhood, and a large fair that used to be held in Rotherham every autumn, and which at the time (late 1950s / early 1960s) was the first time each year when you could see Father Christmas.
Lovely. We have one just outside Valletta during these festive days but, like you, the only time I went to Valletta this season, there was nobody riding the animals on the merry-go-round.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are all very much appreciated.
It's quite noticable how there are far fewer fairgrounds than there used to be. It seems far more usual now to find a single ride like this as part of an event.
Fences are something of a hazzard for photographers! Sometimes they can be incorporated as part of a composition, but more often they can be a nuisance!
