It were not best that we
should all think alike.
It is difference of opinion

In 1875, Churchill Downs officially opened and began its tradition as "home of the Kentucky Derby. It was exciting to be able to take a tour, go through the museum and gift shop after seeing the Kentucky Derby for many years on TV. I never imagined I would see the grounds in person.
Barbaro was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2006 Kentucky Derby but tragically shattered his leg two weeks later in the Preakness on May 20, 2006. He underwent surgery but by July, developed laminitis. He underwent five more operations and while his injured leg healed, he developed laminitis again. His vets and owners concluded he could not be saved and Barbaro was euthanized on January 29, 2007. He was only 3 years old.
Barbaro was interred in front of the entrance to Churchill Downs as a monument and statue to honor him was placed atop his remains. The Jacksons who owned Barbaro chose to place his remains outside of both Churchill Downs and the adjacent Kentucky Derby Museum to allow his admirers to pay their respects without having to pay an admission fee. The Barbaro Sculpture was created by Alexa King.
