In all things of nature
there is something
of the marvelous.

These are magnolia seeds that are found in large cone-like fruits called follicles. My neighbor brought it over to me. The seeds were held by a tiny thread filament, when pulled, released the seed.
My neighbor knew how much I liked taking photos of the beautiful magnolia blossoms on her tree. She told me her tree was planted from a small seedling, given out at the California State Fair many years ago.
I can harvest these seeds and grow my own Southern Magnolia tree though it wouldn't be big or bloom for 15 years. But, if you've ever seen a Southern Magnolia in full bloom, you know it's worth the wait! https://365project.org/gardenfolk/365/2020-06-05
