Most visitors to Amsterdam
will wander into the red-light district
out of sheer curiosity.
The narrow streets are
mostly safe day and night-
just don't try to take pictures of
the women working in the windows

We asked the clerk at the hotel desk where the red light district was. Turns out our hotel was IN the red light district...haha!
We only had to walk down two blocks and turn right. We felt like we were part of a herd, it was so crowded on a Friday night.
I visited Amsterdam in 1976 and remembered seeing this area before. But now, it reminded me of Las Vegas with all the neon signs and the ladies of the night were more active and animated, vying for attention. Definitely an interesting place!
It is a great place to visit. The oldest church is in the middle of the red light district if I remember and presents a strange juxtaposition to the eye. Your captures show how lively and colourful everything is it night.
@maggiemae I was in a singing group with my college. We were invited to perform at Octoberfest in Hamm, Germany. Hamm was celebrating their 850th birthday and was the sister city to Santa Monica, California. We went for an overnight in Amsterdam and also to Austria for the day. I wish we had met too!
Great to see what has happened since!
