This is a certificate my mother-in-law received when she was twelve years old in 1911. I think the words are mostly clear enough to read & it has her name & the date on it. This hangs in my hall together with a certificate of good attendance at school. School opened 116 times ; she attended 116 times ! Funnily enough when she had her children in fairly quick succession the midwife told her to drink a bottle of Guinness a day & this she did with great enjoyment for ever after, living until she was 92 !!
