The flags are out for the May Processions on Monday. There are lots of floats, fancy dress & the crowing of the May Queen. On the playing fields there are races & in the evening a fairground. The streets will be lined with spectators & pubs open all day ! We used to go & watch when the kids were little but usually give it a miss nowadays although it might be a good photo opportunity !! Not happy with this photo today but I am a bit pushed for time & short on ideas !! Ready for a good outing & new fields to try some different shots !! Thank you for your comments while I am being boring much appreciated !!!
Such a pretty town, Garstang. When we were little there were umpteen fairs on for all the districts in Preston - now some of the villages near Cambridge have 'Feasts' but living in the city we don't get involved - shame because I feel the kids shiould experience a 'best-dressed carrot' contest etc! We also have photos of me in a pretty dress, holding a flower posy attatched to other posies by ribbons (held by other girls and boys in their Sunday best). I'm sure they were church walks (Whitsun maybe?) - the police used to close the A6 for ages - I don't suppose they do that now - shame! Some pics of the May festivities would be fun!!
@judithg Might try & go on Monday I'm ready for some different pictures! They still have processions at Bilsborrow where my daughter lives & they close the A6 briefly for that so in general in Lancashire there are still these occasions still going on. All the kids seem to have great fun & a lot of work goes into running the events. You will have to put one of your photos up like Diana has today Judith!!
This is an interesting photo to those of us who've not been to your fair city so no apologies required. I love seeing other people's life styles and back yards. This is lovely.
