Boundary Wall. by happypat

Boundary Wall.

This wall belongs to one of the pubs in the village & I had NOT been in for a G&T !!!!! I walked to the post office with the tax return & cut through this little alley & past this wall. I am really short of ideas at the moment & did take 47 photos on my walk but kept coming back to this one as I thought the colours were very pretty !
I have come to the conclusion that as you are getting towards the end of you 365 days that you get more critical of your shots & whereas at the beginning when you know nothing you are pretty easily satisfied ! I cringe when I look at my earlier photos ... what would I ever want to take a photo of the carpet cleaner for !!!!
Beautiful angle of this wall, Pat. And the greenery just pops on this. Love the textures. GREAT ONE! I won't even go back and look at my first bunch of shots. I've deleted almost everything . . still do. I am my own worst critic.

great textures Pat - I think you're right - about this time of my project I was HYPER critical! It's such a tough time of year for the perfect shot! Love the focus in this

@karenann Thanks Karen & I do think we get better as we go on but what fun it's been,& to be in touch with other 365ers like you is just the best thing !!! Thank for all your comments & you are always so good at thanking people on your site !

@happypat I think there was a point where I got overawed by trying to keep up with everyone that i stopped pressing the follow button. Ironically the people that I am truly following now I am doing so unofficially! LOL not any more!

Oh wow - it is beautiuful (bit of ivy-leaved toadflax?). Gorgeous focus as well. It's definitely true what you say - it's why we all get stuck around about the middle when we want better and better and we are running out of material at the same time!! I might be hitting the G&T after Parents' Evening - I can't help but feel like I did when I was 14. Mind you when we went to look round the school the Deputy Head (now Headmaster) met with us in the Headmaster's Office and he said it still made him nervous knocking on the door!!

@judithg Parents evening oh dear poor you ! My youngest son was pretty hopeless at school , not that he was stupid he just wasn't interested but by golly if you ask him anything now there's nothing he doesn't know through reading & life. I would never worry again about a child at school as long as they were decent kids !

A well-spotted photo opp. Lots of colour and texture to look at. I'm struggling a bit now too - with shorter days and lack of inspiration and imagination.

I agree, a well spotted photo opportunity. Surely November must be the most difficult month of the year for photos for poor light and greyness.

Yes I like the contrast of the stone and the green - agree with you about your comments too!

I know what you mean about the earlier and later photos. I can't believe some of the stuff I posted! I really like this image and your focus. It's very unexpected.

it is suprising the changes you find as you go along.

Love the wall and how it is covered with life. I had to chuckle at your comments about the early days on 365. It is a learning process Pat, and your photos were not that bad at all. I think you have had some very nice photos. It is neat to see how our approach changes.

I think the detail is beautiful in this shot, Pat. The moss behind the trailing ivy is very pleasing to look at. It's like a miniature mountain world with the cracks in between the bricks being caves and such. Well, it's probably only me that thinks of it that way!

::Goes off in search of the carpet cleaner photo:: Well, I have to see your shot now that you've made it infamous!
November 17th, 2011
@digitalrn Thank you Rick & thank you too for all your regular comments !

@sabresun Thanks Matt I was surprised how well this photo came out !

Lovely texture and focus on this picture , I know what you mean about pictures taken at the start of 365, although I don't know if mine have improved!
November 17th, 2011
lol at the carpet cleaner...now it's dark days and nights Pat I might be doing a few household objects for my 365....i like the textures here :)
November 17th, 2011
@snowy @phil_howcroft I think & hope we have all improved but it's hard keeping the memento going sometimes !!
November 17th, 2011
hee hee I went off back to find the carpet cleaner photo and took ages as I was enjoying so many of the photos along the way!! :)
November 18th, 2011
@sarah19 It is quite interesting to go back isn't it !!! I will look at some of yours when I have more time !!
November 18th, 2011
I agree Pat - when I look back at my original photos, I cringe too. I actually had a display of some of my 365 photos at the local hall last weekend. It was part of an art/ craft display by locals. I was quite chuffed with how some of them looked too. They held their own if I do say so myself. I can see why you kept coming back to this one. I like the textures and the colours as well.
November 18th, 2011
Haha - carpet cleaner! I took a shot of the carpet cleaner, too. Agree re being more critical and I think when you are looking at other people's photos (outside of 365), you can tend to see what works and doesn't work too...hones the aesthetic. Lovely shot of the greenery...and I wouldn't have judged had you been for a G&T!))
