I have been to a funeral today of one of my mums old neighbours as I know she would have gone if she had still been alive.
Afterwards I had a little wander round the church yard & saw this pretty grave with such beautiful delicate flowers obviously put there especially for Remembrance Sunday.
They looked so pretty in the greyness of the churchyard & I have tried to capture the sense of it in this photo.
It was a very peaceful place & the grave beneath the tree a lovely place to rest.
Hey Pat... After 15 minutes i'm back to tell you a story:) - This is a magic photo!!!!!!!! I was looking at it and another one of one member for quite a while, thinking of our dear passed away, of the places where they rest...and of some who are lost and unknown soldiers - maybe you remember in September i told about it, that we're searching for 60 years for our grandfather who went for burton in WW-2, sooooo - while looking at your magic photo, i suddenly received the reply that he is FOUND and burried in Bratislava!!!! Just imagine!!! Now i'm happy and crying and wish to go to see his place of rest too... )
@nyusha Well Anna that is so wonderful & I am so happy for you. So a grave yard will be such a happy place for you to visit when you are able ! Well done to the people doing the finding too !!
Pat, i always have difficulty with graveyard images, i don't know why, maybe i am a bit scared or uneasy around them.... but this is quite a calming image ....i think it is the selective colouring that warms it up
@louisefrance@decani@semoor Thank you all so much for your kind words ! @phil_howcroft I like graveyards & taking pictures
in them but it was a bit of a grey day today ! @judithg Thank you for the fave Judith & this church was the one where Anthony & Jo got married in 2006 & was the first time I had been in since so was a lovely memory even though a sad occasion !
I had to Fave this Pat - it's beautiful. It looks like a very serene place to visit. Love the greys and the colour of the flowers. Love the sinewy tree trunks and the church as well. just gorgeous.
It seems fitting that you went to your mum's neighbour's funeral. I'm sure your mum would be proud to think that you're the kind of person that makes a point of doing that for her. It says a lot about your thoughtfulness, Pat. I like the selected colour on the flowers, so pretty, graveyards can be little oasis of beauty can't they.
