Too busy today to put anything very good up. This was taken last night at our Burns Night supper & here is the Haggis being piped in.
It was an excellent evening & the first time we have been to a Burns night so had no idea what to expect ! I must say the haggis was lovely & was served with Wi Champit Tatties & Bashed Neeps. We then had Roastit Bubblyjock wi aw the Trimmins which was turkey etc,Cock-a-Leekie soup to start & fruit & ice cream to finish.
Lots of bagpipes & Burns poems & an excellent evening all round.
I sat next to the Pipe Major who was an excellent companion with very interesting stories & a very illustrious son-in-law.
Way behind now with commenting & almost too far behind to catch up....I promise I will do better this week !!
Sounds like you had a great time. Sorry to say that I do not recognize any of the food that you mention, but, I enjoy Burns, and I love bagpipes. So two out of three isn't bad, is it?
I love a good Burns Night! Nigel's old company used to do one & the Science Director used to pipe in the haggis! It was always hilarious but not necessarily for the expected reasons. It's nice to see a man in a kilt!
Great photo! Sounds like a fun evening, I've never been to a proper Burn's supper where a piper has piped the haggis in. However we always have haggis on Burn's night, the supermarket shelves will be piled high with them next week up here!
Well now, you may as well have printed that menu in chinese Pat - for all the association I was able to make with the Scottish fare! I've seen Haggis but never eaten it and have to say, it's one of the foods on my "not desperate to sample" list. I'll trust you if you say it was nice. Great photo - you have captured the essence of the evening with the haggis and the piper. Glad you had such a great night.
This is so interesting as well as "confusing" to me! LOL I know about haggis. I was told that it didn't taste so good (I've never had it tho!) However I don't know what Tatties and Neeps are! The soup sounds super tho. Hope that you enjoyed it all, Pat. It sounds like you did. :) Oh, and I love the photo!
a good record shot of your evening out Pat...the bar looks busy !!
One of my colleagues at work was telling our offshore team how those haggises are notoriously difficult to catch and farm when they spend all the time roaming the glens :) I must try to photograph some one day...allegedly they have been seen roaming the Derbyshire peak district too ...so I may get an opportunity to photograph rather than shoot one :)

The Haggis was delicious & even harry ate every little bit, served with one scoop of mashed potatoes & a spoonful of mashed turnips, we loved it !
Great to see ....... we had a phase of Burns Suppers a few years back but haven't been for a while. Love Haggis though and will have it on Wednesday! And the children are all learning their Scottish poems this week for the annual competition at school!
