This is the Harris Museum & Library in the center of Preston. I used to pass this library going home from school every afternoon on my way to the bus station. I have spent many an hour in this building at the library & in the museum & art gallery.
I remember best a lovely dolls house several stories high with the most amazing dolls furniture in. Then there was Pauline in the Yellow Dress, a very distinctive painting in the gallery which is still there to this day.
Fantastic composition Pat! I like that you've included the foreground with the bike but not included the roof. It's lovely to hear your memories of this building.
Absolutely stunning architecture in gorgeous lighting and shadow! You make it all come to life, Pat. Thank you for sharing your childhood and present memories. That's what makes you so special.
Hi Pat greetings from Canada. This is a nice shot of a very impressive looking building. I can just imagine how amazing it must be inside. This is a fav for me as my favorite subject is historic architecture. Where is Preston located?
It's funny because I voluntarily spent many a happy hour there browsing as a teenager as well. I think they have a very 'reachable' collection - things that you can recognise and imagine people using and things that are relevant to Preston. And it's not too big or stuffy either. And it's on the same square as the shop that did hot chicken and stuffing rolls which is a plus. Love the bike @bpaquette !!
Oh you have such beautiful architecture over there Pat. What happy, childhood memories you have attached to this beautiful building. Lovely processing too.
