Great shot for the day. My favourite service at Easter was the stripping of the altar and washing of feet - I'm afraid I've lapsed but I still think Easter should be a proper mix of abstinence and celebration.
No feet washing Judith !! I am more of a regular now but don't go when I am busy with B&B . We are a real mixture of religions in our family & I am the only one that goes to the Catholic one , just what you have been brought up with ! We all go the same way by different routes !
Is the feet washing a CofE thing then?! Can't remember if that's Good Friday! I get a bit mixed up as I did CofE at home and Catholic at school!I really enjoyed the Passion - I didn't know all that about the railway. I must say that I would have chosen somewhere other than the bus station I think if I'd wanted to 'sell' Preston a bit!!
@judithg I read in the paper that the sovereign used to wash the feet of their people on Maundy Thursday but the last King to do that was I think James 2nd & now to no doubt the relief our Queen she gives out Maundy money instead !! I think that's right anyway !! The bus station looked OK but not the rest which is at the dud end of town. I enjoyed it but was a bit muddled now & again, thought the war bit was quite moving though. Would have looked better in Avenham Park !
@louisefrance Thank you Louise, Good Friday was always a big church day when we were young & of course fish to eat !!! Sometimes it's good to stop & think & find out what is really important in life don't you think ?
