We have had terrible floods round here after the torrential rain yesterday & overnight with fields & roads flooded.
Our neighbours cows were stranded on a little island in their field. With the help of a few of us & the police a hole was made in the hedge & David enticed the cows & calves across this shallower bit & out onto the main road. The traffic in both directions had to wait while they were all rescued.
My goodness! It's one thing to hear about it on the news but seeing your photo really shows the impact on everyone of you!
Great neighbourhood though when everyone helps those in a crisis!
Hope it all dries up soon!
I suppose some of the recently planted crops may have been washed away too!
@sarah19 Yes although the fields haven' been too bad just the ones with water running through like this one. the roads have all got flood warnings & traffic lights for one way traffic & there are some trees down. More rain forecast tonight.
We are very lucky where we live. The ground is very wet but nothing like you are experiencing. Farmers must be very worried. I love this shot you have posted. It brings it home to us how others are suffering. FAV!
@rach57 Yes we had torrential rain & wind like you yesterday & last night but unlike your town it seemed to be only fields which wasn't half as bad as yours. The Olympic Torch came past this field late afternoon yesterday so you can imagine how bad it was watching that LOL ! Thank you so much for the fave!
Oh my goodness poor you,we had sun yesterday!! But back to rain again this morning, you have been hit really hard.........your shot really shows the situation well, what a dramatic scene, great photo opportunity though!! Def a fav and you are on pp congratulations!!
I do so hope the weather improves for you soon, but without it we wouldn't be able to gasp at this super cool shot, fav for me too, you've already made the PP, well done, and thanks for sharing this image :)))
Thank you all so much & sorry for the multiple reply but not much time this morning as have been full for B&B & then out to village BBQ later. So pleased to be on the PP so thank you all so much for the lovely comments & faves! You are all so important to my enjoyment of this project. I felt a little guilty with my camera out flashing away & lovely Ann& David whose animals they were brought us a bottle of wine & some roses.....I would have paid them for photo op!!!!!
No animals were harmed in the making of this photo!!!!!
Saw this last night Pat when I was out socialising (we call it 'doing a Pat' now ;0)) and it's amazing. Thank goodness for that narrow strip of land and the community pulling together. Quite right the cars having to stop.
So glad I saw this fabulous shot on the PP otherwise I might have missed it. Such a great capture, beautifully composed and amazing story behind it. Good to hear the poor animals were led to safety. Congrats on PP. this is definitely a huge Fav for me, too.
@judithg Oh goodness I have a reputation to keep up now Judith, how funny particularly as Harry & I never went anywhere until we went to London on our Silver wedding for 3 days!!! We were so nervous we daren't go in any of the 'posh' restaurants & ate our evening ,meal in Marble Arch Macdonalds the whole 3 days!!!
Thank you for the fave!
What a fantastic composition and capture, Pat! They could have used this photo in your local newspaper! Love everything about it because it tells a story. It's wonderful when neighbors rally and help one another. A great pov and candid capture.
I must perhaps explain to all that actually the water to the right of the cows will be very deep as that is the brook that has overflowed so just one step in the wrong direction could have been very dodgy!!
Great neighbourhood though when everyone helps those in a crisis!
Hope it all dries up soon!
