We have a jewelers shop on the High Street in Garstang & the family live down this passage way behind the shop. You used to be able to walk down to the house but I notice they have these electric gates there now...a sensible precaution I think in these times.
It is a very handsome house with the river behind.
Three good things:
1.I have had my hair cut etc.
2. Dropped all the cast off stuff at the charity shop.
3. I found the lens & screw which fell out of my reading glasses last night.
@snowy@anazad511 Looking at my photo a second time I think it gives a bad impression on second thought. Garstang is a very small market town with just one main street & possibly this gate was put up to stop the customers from the pub across making use of it at chucking out time!!
Quite a sign of our times, isn't it. All over the world. I know I sound old here but I am always amazed at barred windows and doors these days. But a jeweler is understandable.
Good news on the specs. I like the 'etc' with the haircut - I need to make time myself! Shame you can't walk down anymore - jewellers are probably quite vulnerable but there's something to be said for lots of people being around and about - hence we have our school grounds open in the evenings...
The bright light on the house in the background gives it a good air and it sounds delightful. Looks a bit like those locked entranceways in Morocco or Spain.
your photo portrays the situation really well...but nice to know that they feel more protected this way. Glad you found that screw and lens! so important!!!
It looks like a lovely place at the end of the walkway. That red door caught my eye right away. If I lived in a heavily traveled business district, I think I would put up a gate as well...if for no other reason than to keep the photographers from 365 back. Just kidding, Pat!! :)
