Dappled sunlight. by happypat

Dappled sunlight.

I was full of good intentions today of going to Garstang & taking some photos of the Bank Holiday festivities in the town.
It rained!
Instead Harry & I have stayed inside watching tennis from Paris & reading my book...Five Days by Douglas Kennedy...I am a big fan of his but this new book has had not such enthusiastic reviews although I am enjoying it up to now.
Jim the B&B left this morning & now we await John who is booked in for 7 nights....a very regular visitor, he comes three times a year so home from home!

This picture is the border in our front garden. We have an oval lawn edged with trees & at this time of the year the borders are full of bulbs especially with the white bells you can see here.

Three good things:
1. A lazy day inside staying out of the rain.
2. Talked to our son in NZ this morning before their holiday in Sydney.
3. The invitation of two days away in June at the Three Counties Show with the neighbouring farmers.
An extra good thing is Ian Holloway has steered Crystal Palace into the premier division...we do not follow this team but IH did so well for Blackpool he deserves all his success.
What a super front garden --looks so spacious with the trees & beautiful white flowers --what are they Pat ?? Love the dappled peaceful sight !

Relaxing lush greens

@beryl They are a white form of the bluebells Beryl & seem to have taken over the front garden completely. They do look lovely against the dark trees. I must add this is the best my garden looks all year as the tree roots take up so much moisture that not a lot grows, just lots of shrubs. Luckily the shape & trees mean it doesn't need much , just a good mowing.

What a beautiful pattern! Made by the sun on the grass...what could be more summery? :)

Yes I thought it was a triptych too. A lovely look at your garden and I like the vignette edging. It looks even better viewed large.

What beautiful shadows it makes - poor things with the rain arriving too soon? On it's way down and over by tomorrow :0(

I like the lawn shadow patterns, so peaceful looking as they drape the grass and shift around.

Beautiful sunlight and shadow patterns. It looks nice and lush from all the rain at least!

It's a big garden and this design always looks so good with a hedge and trees to provide shade! Thanks for showing it to us!

What a graceful curve - it is very appealing. Your lawn looks so lush and your sunshine is getting a lot of strength to it. I'm wishing I hadn't started so many garden beds when the kids were small - too much to maintain - am trying to achieve what you have here! Simple elegant beauty.

Very inviting scene. You must really enjoy your yard.

@bpaquette Thank you Barbara this border goes three quarters round the garden with a small gate in the middle out onto the lane, the rest is just shrubs & some weeds that i go out now & again to pull up so very low maintenance which i prefer. Round the seating area at the back door I have troughs & tubs with flowers so more work in the summer there. have to keep it tidy for guests!!!!
