George Square is a very grand square in the centre of Glasgow.
Up until 1787 this impressive square was just a muddy hollow where they used to slaughter horses.
The large building in the photo is Glasgow city chambers where the city council now have their home.
After our walk up the hill to the university & then trailing round the campus we were glad of a little sit here in the sun.
Wet again outside so I am plundering the filler archives!
Three good things:
1. More Wimbledon, just waiting for Andy Murray now!!
2. Heated car seats which I had on full blast to ease my sore back....the new steam cleaner is Harrys job from now on!!
3. M&S yoghurts.
@anazad511 I know what you mean Ana but to me it was all about the guy!! All the building is in there , almost but I thought the man was the main thing for me!!!
That huge lion over there - is he one of two? I remember seeing this square while looking on Google earth for the university ( it was in a book). When it was 3deg out, I loved the heated seats too, didnt want to get out of the car!
@maggiemae Yes there is a matching lion on the other side maggiemae...this is a large square in the main shopping area of Glasgow. the uni is just up the hill from here , that's why Lydia is keen on going there , so central!!
ha - he does look a little out of place in all that grandeur Pat - I guess it's pretty cool that he doesn't care. Lovely foliage to compliment the grey building - it's certainly eye catching and very grand.
Dress code ? what dress code ? rolling his own ? Aah well !! Lovely impressive building so nicely captured Pat and to be honest ,the figure on the bench does not distract but is an added interest to me !!
I love heated car seats - toasty! - but could have told you that steam cleaning anything would lead to no good.
