Tractors & trailers arrived this morning to start harvesting 75 acres of Maize.
This is the view from our back door & I have enjoyed looking at this years magnificent 10 foot high crop of maize....it has grown so well this year.
Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments & faves on my Wild Sea photo yesterday.....I really appreciate them all.
Three good things:
1. The fields are dry so this year there is no mud on the road where the trailers are going up & down.
2. Have had my nails done again.....after going my whole life with unkempt nails from milking etc I have now got really smart nails & I like them.
3. Our little Lily is feeling better & eating cat pouches.........she is normally on dry feed but we had these left from last time she was ill....spoilt I know but good to see her feeling better.
I really love your commentary on farming life and this is a great image to illustrate the latest event on your farm. Never had my nails done, now I am thinking about it!
This looks a big job even if they do have big machinery! I presume its maize for cattlefeed? I agree about the nails - I've developed an annoying habit of picking at my nails and now slap myself everytime I do it! I"m now black and blue!
You made me laugh about the cat food Pat. We have started giving ours one little tin of 'posh' food each morning to try to bribe her to carry on living with us. Over the summer she started spending more and more time living next door. (No kids, no pets) The neighbours said that they weren't feeding her, but she was going days without coming home. Anyway, she is now firmly living back with us and demanding a tin of posh food from about 5am onwards every day.
What a lovely shot - hope the weather's better there than here - the council's just started cutting the scrublands today after weeks of dry weather and of course it's pouring!
so nostalgic.
Now off to pack!
