Actually this pumpkin man has a name & he is called Walt who is a character out of a TV series called Breaking Bad.
My grandson Jack carved him yesterday...it took 3 hours of his time!
Well I went to the camera shop yesterday just to have a little look at smaller more compact cameras to go with my DSLR which at times I find very clumsy & awkward for every day photography.
I was seduced by this compact Olympus Pen & the very small but effective lens. It has an eye piece ..bought separately which I haven' t got yet but hope to have soon & the little lenses were very impressive. I get a free pancake 17mm street lens which will bring the size down to an ordinary compact size camera.
Hoping I made the right decision & I like it when have got to grips with it.
Thank you all so much for your patience with my abysmal commenting over the last few days.
Three good things:
1. All you wonderful 365ers.
2. A night in by the fire tonight.
3. My new magazine in the post.
Fantastic carving looks like bono from u2. excellent choice of compact pat....although the interchangeable lenses are pricey..... Enjoy...i look forward to seeing your new camera results
@fueast Lens creep Alison...sounds serious! No idea how heartened I am with your word about the camera...always wonder if you did the right choice when you get it home!!!!! @phil_howcroft You too Phil, thanks for the comments!
How exceptional is this carving! And a great sht of it! Hope you like the new camera - I've had mine since August and still not sure if I like it or not!
1 - great pumpkin - mine effort is even more sad now I've seen this! 2 - that camera sounds great - an viewfinder is a great add on - no idea you could do that - and you can change lenses - fantastic! Daren't ask Nigel for another!!
That is so clever and should be recognised by more people than 365'ers! It hardly seems to be a pumpkin! Glad he put it on FB too! Your camera still sounds as if it is a DSLR?
@maggiemae Similar functions maggiemae but so much smaller...I do hope I like it! It has no view finder at the moment so I am having to get used to looking at a screen again which is a bit weird, will have to save up for that!!
Love Breaking Bad - so love this one! :) You'll love the PEN - very nice camera and excellent reviews. The only reason mine sits on the shelf is that I am used to a large Canon camera in my hands and that one felt too small. But excellent for street photography and travel. Enjoy!
@kass Thank you Kass for your kind comments, interesting to hear your thoughts on the Pen....always wonder if you have bought the right camera...so very reassuring thanks for taking the time! I have a Cannon 650 & like it but for my type of photography, mostly I much prefer street type plus random snatched shots, I found that the DSLR is so cumbersome.
@phil_howcroft You too Phil, thanks for the comments!
Sounds like you have found a very nice camera! I have a little canon powershot which I always have on me :)
Jack is so very talented with his carving!
