The poor hens got a shock this morning as they ventured outside... only three braved the first frost of the winter though!
I was standing in the queue at Boots & heard a man's voice say to his companion ''At what age will you be having babies then?'' My ears pricked up as they would... a mans voice answered "oh when I'm 31 I think''. They went on to discuss how old their mothers were when they had them & the pros & cons of different ages when you become a parent.
As soon as I decently could I turned round to take a look at them and discovered two very handsome blonde young students of about 19 years old... to say I was rather charmed was an understatement!!
Three good things:
1. Caring young men who would make delightful fathers one day.
2. My daughter in law is on her way from NZ to spend a fortnight with us while she visits her elderly parents... looking forward to having her stay.
3. I am going to do the ironing now whilst watching Paul Hollywood make some bread & puds...his new afternoon programme.
Ooooh pretty frost but you can keep it up there for now. Please send those two nice handsome men down to Birmingham ;0) !! Might have to watch PH on demand - too many things I should be doing (not 365!!)
Oh my goodness this shot fills me with horror, your first frost, I so hope we are not due one for a while as we still have to lay a rather large lawn!!!
Brrrr...looks like a very brisk start to your day. Love this frosty morning look at life around the hen house. Love the conversation between the young men and the fact that you thought to share it with us...the good guys just don't get enough recognition!
Brrrr !! --poor chicks , but at least they have a real smart home which Harry recently creosoted !! It's really cold here as well tonight ! A really pretty look !! but not what we want et !!
It still looks pretty dark at this time - the light on the tree! You will be all set for warm fires and hot roasts! What is that word, "ironing"? Don't know what that means!
Looking forward to our first frost probably not for a bit as rain seems tobe be forecast for most of the week. Nice looking hen house all mod cons I expect.
Had to de-ice the car this morning :( looks like another cold one tonight too :((
Lovely shot ..... captures the frost really well :)
Looks like I will be able to take a dinner on Thursday if you are available.
@willowdragon Oh sorry I cant do Thursday Al...local primary school is having a 'do' for all past pupils to look at new extension & bricks with our kids names on which we bought as money raisers.....taking DIL whose childrens names are on the bricks...she back for a visit tomorrow from NZ. Can you do another day?
I love this shot. It is strange you talking about different seasons. Will be lovely to have your d-I-l to stay. What part of NZ does your family live in. @maggiemae must be Kiwi thing, I don't know what ironing is either!
@happypat See you Friday! I will have a bright blue coat on! I won't have my glasses on though as they are only for reading. Looking forward to seeing you too :)
Oh no, not the dreaded frost! We have been so lucky so far, but I suppose the cold has to arrive sometime. Lovely shot of the white chook house and garden.
Clare went to Lancaster University but I never heard about any chaps of this description!!!! Frost already - oh no! Good shot.
