Last day of Christmas. by happypat

Last day of Christmas.

This is the beautiful house of our neighbours where we had a meal out last night.
Anne is a very busy lady, working on the farm with her husband feeding calves & generally helping to run a beef & arable farm. She also does flowers for weddings & funerals etc in her spare time but her big passion is her house.
Regularly visiting the auction house at Kirkby Lonsdale she picks up beautiful old furniture & table ware including silver & beautiful crystal.
This is her new garden room & it looked stunning last night.
All these decorations were coming down today, there was another tree in the dining room too. We were wined & dined beautifully... a hard act to follow!

Three good things:
1. I am enjoying the last Maeve Binchy book A Week in Winter...a fast moving book with a great deal of warmth. A pleasant change from my last read the rather dark Goldfinch.
2. A wonderful evening with much laughter & good food.
3. I took the boots back!!
What an amazing tree!! Puts ours to shame. Lovely warm festive shot :)

What a wonderful tree and such a big space to show it off. They sound like great friends. Thanks for the book recommendation. I like Maeve Binchy too but felt that some of her recent books had a got a bit twee.

@busylady Yes I got to feeling that too Judith & I do like something to get my teeth in but over Christmas I have just felt like something unthreatening & gentle specially after that block buster Gold finch which was quite a challenging read!

The lighting is difficult but you have got great clarity here in this room! What a beautiful room and how nice that you can enjoy it and the table settings which some people go to great lengths to get. I like Maeve Binchy too!

This is a gorgeous and inviting room! Her life sounds so fascinating and wonderful to me. If I had an other life... that is maybe what I would have wanted to do. The lights are lovely! The angle is cool..like we are peeking in an a cozy couple conversing. Fav
