Drove along Blackpool promenade this morning after my hospital appointment & craftily took this photo of the Pleasure Beach.
The whole of Blackpool was deserted, I was quite surprised as it was quite a nice morning.
I must say that the Pleasure a Beach holds no thrills for any of our family.....we hate the place with a vengeance all except Alex the daredevil of the family....our children even married other scaredy cats too.
Three good things:
1. The back door has had its final coat & I have moved into the kitchen.
2. I have cancelled the AA, we have never called them out over the whole 25 years we have been with them. Every year it goes up, I ring them & then they tweak it...have had enough!
3. A funny book.
I don't like scary rides anymore, but I used to ride them. But I do like looking at ALL the things in this photo! The Sponge Bob balloons, the man in the wheelchair (so incongruous!), the signs, the dangling lights. I love how you processed it too. Very appropriate. Fav
Super capture Pat , but not my kind of place either - in fact another scarry cat !! - no not for me -- what a wast of space ,money and a blot on the landscape as far as I am concerned !! --Now I've got that off my chest - all the best with the rest of the painting
I like all the lines and the primary colours. For Edward's last birthday we took him and a friend here, but only found out when we got there that the friend was terrified of roller coasters, so Edward and I went on the rides while the friend watched.
It looks rather grey ,sad and deserted especially as many primary schools are still on holiday. I love the pop of red on the billboard for the hypnotist. Not looking forward to giving Betty back at all - she's such a gorgeous dog and three weeks on she's just the right shape to fill the whole which Lotto has left.
Love it Pat! Well like you I don't - we had an uncle who had some connection and was always offering us free tickets as if we'd be excited and my sister and I would rather have poked ourselves in the eye than go up there. Nigel and Adam are a bit more on for it but they draw the line at big wooden ones!
@snowy I thinking gets quite busy at night. They have changed the system now, whereas you used to buy tickets for the rides , now you have to pay to go in. Not cheap either so anyone who likes to just have a look & walk about has to pay. I can't see that is a good idea really!
always on the tacky side the pleasure beach, although as a young lad visiting my grandparents, I used to love the 'old school' horses that raced around in circles (not the traditional horses)
@jewelsandbinoculars actually they rang back & said they would charge us £80 instead of £192.63........job sorted! It makes me so cross when they do that........you feel you can't trust them but if course I said yes!
This is a lovely shot of it though :)
You know now you've cancelled the AA you'll break down next week, don't you?
