I went in to town this afternoon to try & track down the illusive age 4 to 5 jeans from M&S. I bought the only pair in Blackpool last week then decided I would take advantage of the free P&P to NZ but they were sold out online too. Bought the last pair in Preston today!
I took this in the newly refurbished Fishergate. I read somewhere that Lancashire CC had acquired a large amount of money to refurbish the roads...all I can say they have put it to good use. New paving & some trees planted. As you can see it was very quiet today....a hot afternoon & this main high street is mostly pedestrianised anyway.
I think everyone is getting home early to watch England play Uraguay in the World Cup tonight as the roads out of town were busier much earlier today.
I picked this photo although when I saw it there seemed to be a sort of film over it, but I liked the wheelie in the middle of the road...someone was burning rubber!
Three good things:
1. Lots of stuff in the sale if you wanted to buy.
2. I didn't !!!
3. 3 boxes of M&S meringues for the price of two......plus strawberries...yummy & the stickier in the middle the better!
Btw if I have unfollowed anyone recently please let me know...I seem to have a bad habit of unfollowing some of my favourite followers, completely by mistake I must add!
@sparkle@quietpurplehaze thank you both....not sure how it tuned out like this because the next one was a complete different version...all bright & clear but this one looked shiny for some reason so here it is!
Criikey I wouldn't have recognised it! Much needed improvements if 'You know you're from Preston' is anything to go by - they are always moaning on there that the council is letting it go downhill. I saw a nice shot of the cenotaph the other day though - looked good. Now for New Hall Lane if the latest thread is anything to go by!
@judithg ooh I haven't been in the New Hall a Lane eared for years...I must investigate it for you. Church street not so good though, was al going to be regenerated when the bus station came down ...John Lewis etc but that all went out the window so much the same as it always was.
@happypat I was laughing about a thread that said, 'What's the roughest part of Preston?' I think it was a joke really but people piled in and New Hall Lane was the winner. They need to make the roads in to the city look smart really.
Whatever you did to this shot made it look great! I love the low angle and laughed about the wheelie. We get a bit of that kind of thing on the weekend on a nearby corner!
@espyetta well it's a road that only let's little traffic down although there were busses driving down. Supposed to be pedestrian friendly but if you look at that little raised edge...I tripped over that twice today!
Whatever you did to this photo is just beautiful - its one of my favourite type of processing but I can't duplicate it with my apps. A light HDR it looks like! Clear and light! fav
@maggiemae sorry maggiemae I can't tell you what I did exactly...I did use a light HDT on it though as it made the photo a lot clearer! Thank you very much!
Nice street scene. I was trying to see if I could recognise any of the shop names. I do recognise TSB is that what used to be Trustee Savings Bank? and I think Thomas Cook is a travel agency.
Preston looks a lot posher than when I was last there about 35 years ago.
@andreajoy thanks Andrea....England have no chance against these keen young football countries & to make matters worse all our premier League players are foreign so no home grown talents any more. Hope the do better on the rugby tomorrow ha ha! Will be watching!

Shame about the footie. England got so e serious work to do if they can.
Wayne and Luke loving the action
It does look very quiet!! :)
