I love book shops & could happily spend a whole day in one....I feel guilty even thinking about my Kindle!
Three good things:
1. Two cottage pies in the oven, one for us & one for the neighbours.
2. My niece in Australia has got a job.
3. A nice glass of Prosecco.
Only you could take a picture of something in everyday life and make it special! There might be some sort of special placings going on here though which works in this photo! Books, books books. Number One!
Trouble is I just want to read all the titles ,and as the hen keeping was so obvious I expected to see eggs in the basket !! Sorry Pat my head is a bit coddled and tired after the journey home , collecting Alfie and doing some food shopping before settling down -- and now it's Xfactor on TV !
Lovely photo. Some book shops are so charming and a pleasure to spend time in......and then there are some that you politely exit ASAP! We came across one of them this summer. A photo of the couple who owned it remains in my head...very quirky!
Lovely - apparently Kindles are 'so last year'. I must say I've enjoyed reading a few paper books recently - you just can't browse on line the way you can in a shop. But it's also lovely to have the Kindle too - in fact I've remembered that I've got Longbourn waiting on mine for this evening. And it's a godsend for my sister who struggles with her eyesight - she inherited the one I bought for my mum for Christmas (!) and it lights up as well as being able to increase the font size and she says it's much easier than a paper book. I love that cover with the tree and the bird on it.
I fully agree about the love the bookshops. I've tried limiting my visits recently, at least until I've made a dent in my Mount-To-Be-Read. And no, I still haven't gone the Kindle route. ;)
@judithg this was an Irish book shop Judith....I think you might get that with all the James Joyce. In the Mail on Sunday supplement today it says that there are so many new E books coming out with the price lower. I do like a proper book & some books you can't buy in any other way such as those with photos & dipping in books I call them. I read my Kindle as I read a lot at night & I feel bad reading with the lighting though Harry never grumbles. Mine I like the one your sister has & I can't praise it enough, mind you far too easy to buy a book! I use it to read samples, research books & when I read about a promising book I just look the price up & read the reviews. I bought mine originally for traveling & it travels everywhere with me! @kwiksilver well done Gillian, must admit that is my only guilt the lack of proper bookshop buying!
Oh one of my favourite places too. We have a brilliant second hand book shop in Newcastle. They won't let you out until you buy three books ha ha. Well that's my story anyway.
I think some of the 'backlash' towards e-books probably refers to iPads & other tablets - I don't have a light in my kindle so sometimes I use the iPad but it's very tiring for reading I find. Perfect for 365 though!!
@judithg I have a light on mine which I do need Judith but you can't beat the old original which sells at £59 now....proper buttons to turn the pages & none of this tapping business!
@kwiksilver well done Gillian, must admit that is my only guilt the lack of proper bookshop buying!
Fab shot :)
