The large cattle tents at any agricultural show are very busy places. Lines of various breeds of cattle.......the dairy sector & beef varieties are all grouped separately. I noticed that the dairy section was very slim this year...a bad outlook for dairy farming.
The amount of equipment a cow needs is surprising & there is always plenty of staff sitting behind each section with forks to keep the cattle clean, hay & I even saw a portable milking machine so the farmer could milk his cows without having to wait his turn at the communal machine.
Three good things:
1. No wind again today.
2. I am enjoying the lovely book @maggimae gave me about the interesting Central Otago's Gardens in her beautiful South Island.
3. Wonderful pink Germoline to put on a spot on my chin......that will put paid to that by morning! Not just teenagers gets spots obviously surprisingly!
A really interesting image ... haven't been to an agricultural fair for years! ps: I love the smell of Germoline! Salicylic acid I think (oil of wintergreen!). My mum always put it on my mozzie bites.
@phil_howcroft thank you Phil.....taken in August on one of my 'girls' holidays! I quite like it myself ...no touching up & the light was kind.....all helps!
I just love going to agricultural shows. You shot has captured the atmosphere of a relaxing day when famers can show off their stock and meet each other.
Looks and sounds like a lot of preparation goes into a show like this and its only for a day! Good to see the various breeds. Surprised not much dairy cattle - they are overtaking our sheep numbers in NZ.
