Phil Vickery the celebratory chef gave a demonstration at the show. Harry & I were dying for a sit down so we sat on the second row & watched him make his dishes of fillet of wild boar & duck with different sauces...it did look delicious though Harry had his usual moan of saying it wasn't cooked properly! He is a 'well done' man so won't have any blood on his plate!
Quite a lot of banter backwards & forwards with the audience , it was very entertaining.
Phil of course is resident chef on the morning TV show & married to Fern Brittain.
I must also thank all of you that have commented & faved my recent shots specially the Dying Sun one...I keep meaning to keep up with answering you all & then get hopelessly distracted but I am thankful for everyone & do read & note all of them.
Three good things:
1. We have had a trip to Boundary Mill today...88 miles across country. I must say we were very impressed with the place. I was wondering why anyone would want to shop anywhere else. Good cafe...cheap at the price, excellent clean loos & lots of bargains.
2. A beautiful piece of moist salmon for tea.
3. Harry's laptop is on EBay & doing quite well .....ends at 8.30pm.
Great expression you captured. You and my mum could swap diaries - she does like Boundary Mill. Not very complementary about Booths cafe in Garstang today though...
@fueast I agree with your mum...the coffee is rubbish, not hot enough . Can't vouch for much else as we don't eat there much...Harry thinks the scones are dry & the chairs make a lot if noise!
Well I was all excited about Phil Vickery until you mentioned Boundary Mill. My mum nearly refused to move south because it was too far from Boundary Mill! @fueast
I agree with Harry , on the meat being well done. I love your new profile picture you look younger as the years go by. Thank you for your recent comments sorry I have not had time to make any it has been a busy time , we had a offer on our house in 3 days so now we have found a place near by we will be on the move all being well. btw Pat it was our 51st anniversary I was a child bride just 19.
@snowy oh same as me then Diana though I was 20......seems so young nowadays doesn't it but never regretted it. Well only now & then when I see what these young girls do these days & the adventures they have! Moving must be hard...will be interested to see how you go on! Not surprisingly you had an offer so soon on your lovely house...hope you liked them!
@phil_howcroft yes Jack did it Phil.....it sold not quite as much as we would have hoped but laptops are cheaper than ever now so it was ok. Good time to sell Jack thought just before uni starts!
@judithg well I don't blame her Judith..it is very impressive....the new shop is very swish....I say new they moved about five years ago I think ...guessing. Such bargains there are if you look.
A stunning candid shot Pat -- so clear and great focus -- I must admit that I am with Harry on this one - I do love my meat reasonably well done as well !!
Great shot. I am with Harry as far as no blood on the plate is concerned. When I see meals in restaurants with blood dripping it really puts me off. I think of the Jimmy Nail comment saying "a good vet would have it back on its feet in no time".
I just posted a wild boar so after that I don't think I would like to taste one and also not rare. These cooking guys are great entertainers not just good chefs so it is like a concert!
just missed you again we walked by when he was on. We stopped for a rest when the chef from linthwaite was on , but we got to taste grasmere gingerbread with bramble and damson mixed with cream on it MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
@pinkpaintpot We saw two young guys & they could have been from there, they were on just before Phil...we had to vote which one was best....ships that pass in the night!
